Design

Getting Artwork

There is a large collection of applications you can use for design. Autocad is one of the most common architectural design applications, graphic design applications range in cost and professionalism, from Microsoft Word to Adobe Photoshop.

If you are not comfortable with creating your own design work there are many design studios out there, just like Honey Graphics who will aid you in your graphic design process.

Print Area

Digital printers will not print to the edge of a sheet of paper, around the edges there are always a few millimeters a printer will not print on, this is called the print margin.

When creating artwork for printing it is important to remember to leave a gap between your content and the edge of the page, if the print is too close to the edge it may be outside the print margins. For precise margin sizes please contact us.

Digital Files

Accepted File Formats

The preferred format is Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), as this is the best way to ensure that we print exactly what you see on your screen.

We can also accept files in a number of other formats, including DWG, DXF, DWF, JPG, PNG, GIF, XLS, DOC, PPT and many more. Please contact us if you have any that do not appear in the list.

Opening Files

In the computing world there is a seemingly endless list of files formats, many of which are unique to a certain program, without the correct program it can be impossible to open the file.

If you are struggling to open a file the first step is to establish what the format is, if you are using Windows XP simply right click the file and click on 'Properties', then will tell you the file format.

In the building and construction industry the most commonly used formats are Adobe Acrobat Documents (PDF) and Autodesk Drawing Document (DWG). To open PDFs we recommend Adobe Reader and for DWGs we recommend Autodesk DWG TrueView. Both these applications are free to download and use.

If you have a different file format you are struggling with please feel free to contact us.

Sending Digital Files

The easiest way to send your files is by using Send It, our online ordering system. This is easier, more secure and reliable than email. Send It is free and easy to use, just create an account. Then simply log on, complete the online order form, upload you file(s) and we can be plotting your files in seconds.
